Annual Presidents' Meeting 2020
Dear Presidents and Senior International Leaders,
We invite you and your colleagues to attend the 24th APRU Annual Presidents’ Meeting in Auckland on June 21-23.
As well as a wonderful opportunity to visit our host, The University of Auckland, this is also a special opportunity to:
Engage with policy leaders, chief scientists and thought leaders on the theme
Network among presidents
Review APRU’s work to increase value
Propose new activities for collective impact
Build a diverse and inclusive Asia-Pacific academic community
The current climate crisis is causing disruption around the Asia-Pacific region, especially in the South Pacific. The effects of this include a rise in inequality, which, in turn, significantly affects well-being.
APRU presidents will deliberate with experts, leaders from academia and international public policy on ways research universities can respond to this global crisis.
Leading international and regional speakers will be announced shortly.
The innovative program is structured to be flexible and enable maximum engagement and networking. It will include:
Keynote addresses by the New Zealand Prime Minister (tbc), government ministers and policy leaders from New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific
Pōwhiri (Traditional Māori welcoming ceremony) and evening welcome reception
Preliminary roundtable sessions on current and emerging APRU initiatives
Presidential Forum and Presidential Luncheon
Formal Conference Dinner at the spectacular Auckland War Memorial Museum
Launch of the APRU Future Impact Project
Meetings with Auckland City leaders and cultural/environmental along with a presidential partners’ program
Please register as soon as possible and ensure to book the APM hotel early as no rooms can be held. Full details are available here.
We look forward to welcoming you in Auckland in June.
With best wishes
